It was an emotional time at the Madison County Commission meeting on Wednesday, April 27 as the county commissioners approved Resolution 2016-04-27 to honor, recognize and appreciate Madison County resident Wendy Brown, who served as an elections worker in the Cherry Lake precinct for over 35 years.
Although she passed away on March 11, 2015 after living in Madison County for almost 80 years, Brown's legacy lives on through the lives she touched throughout her time in Madison.
“I knew Mrs. Brown for 40 years,” said Commissioner Wayne Vickers. “She was a wonderful human being.”
Supervisor of Elections Tommy Hardee recalled that Brown was a poll worker at the elections office and that she worked tirelessly to provide her service to the county. “The first poll worker class I went to, I remember what she said, word-for-word,” said Hardee, emotion rising from his voice.
Brown's family members who were present at the meeting were thanked by Chairman Rick Davis, who presented the family with a framed copy of the resolution that honored Brown.
