A driver lost control of her vehicle after she tried to avoid a tractor-trailer that she stated was coming into her lane on Sunday, August 9 at 8:19 a.m. on Interstate 10 near Captain Brown Road in Madison County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Madison Penner, 18, of Sarasota, Fl. was traveling eastbound on I-10 in the inside lane in her 2004 Volkswagen Beetle. Penner stated that a tractor-trailer was next to her in the outside lane and it appeared that he was coming into her lane. Penner steered to the left and traveled northeast off the roadway to the left into the median. The first point of impact was the front of the vehicle and the ditch in the median. The vehicle continued traveling in a northeasterly direction and crossed over both westbound travel lanes of I-10 north paved shoulder and onto the grass shoulder. The vehicle second point of impact was the front of the vehicle with the underbrush and a standing tree. The vehicle came to final rest at the second point of impact facing northeast. Penner and her passenger Emily Rollinson, 18, of Sarasota, Fl. were uninjured.
