Madison County Memorial Hospital (MCMH) has established a scholarship to honor a former employee who was tragically lost in February of 2022. The Luci Strickland Memorial Scholarship has been established for the purpose of recruitment and retention of health care professionals in Madison County.
Strickland began her healthcare career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), after completing the CNA program at North Florida Junior College. Strickland continued to advance her education over the years until she completed her post-Master's certificate from the University of Florida to become an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, in 2010. Over the years, Strickland worked in many healthcare settings around North Florida and South Georgia, including: South Georgia Medical Center, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Capital Regional Hospital, Shands Hospital, Doctor's Memorial Hospital and, of course, MCMH, where she was a presence since July of 2003. Strickland had a reputation for encouraging and mentoring young health professionals. “She was an exceptional practitioner and will always be a cornerstone for MCMH and the community,” states the MCMH website.
