According to information shared by Cpl. Patricia Shaw, with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), on Sunday, July 30, at approximately 7:15 p.m., troopers from the FHP and firefighters from Madison County Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 10 at Highway 53 South. The vehicle was completely engulfed in flames when first responders arrived on the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was able to escape the vehicle with no injuries. The tractor-trailer was carrying a payload of six cars. Both the truck and cars were completely burned. The cause of the fire was not immediately known and is still under investigation.
Traffic was slowed on the interstate, but by 9 p.m., the scene was cleared and traffic resumed at its normal pace.
