During the regular meeting of the Madison County Board of County Commissioners on Wednesday, Jan. 10, Chris Williams was introduced as the new Fire Coordinator for Madison County. Williams brings over 20 years of experience as a firefighter in Perry and Tallahassee.
Among his primary duties as Fire Coordinator, Williams will be attaining as many grants as possible in order to acquire new equipment, training, etc. Williams has already inquired about possible grants from companies such as PCA, in Clyattville, Ga. and the Georgia-Pacific plant in Perry. Williams will also be looking to recruit new firefighters. Williams has already recruited several new volunteer firefighters for the Sirmans Volunteer Fire Department.
Williams' salary will come from funds raised through the county fire assessment.
