Get into the Christmas spirit at the 30th Annual Greenville Country Christmas held on Dec. 11-12. The two day event is sure to have “something for everyone” during the Friday night and Saturday activities. Friday night starts at 5 p.m. with a bake-off contest held at the Madison/Greenville Multipurpose Center in Greenville. At 6 p.m., join the town of Greenville for a live nativity scene by Greenville Baptist Church, music by the Madison County Boys’ Choir, community caroling and tree lighting ceremony all taking place at Haffye Hays Park in downtown Greenville. We will also announce the winners of the children’s art contest on Friday night. The Friday evening’s activities will be followed by refreshments sponsored by Double H Diner at the Madison/Greenville Multipurpose Center at 7 p.m. On Saturday, at 9 a.m., arts and crafts booths will open and the opening ceremony will commence at 10 a.m. This includes prayer, the National Anthem, the Flag Salute and recognition of this year’s Grand Marshal, Sheriff Joe Peavy and Citizen of the Year, Red Braswell. At 11 a.m., the Country Christmas parade will begin with a great line up of local favorites including Santa Claus and Smokey the Bear. At noon, the winners of the bake-off contest and the children’s art contest will be announced. There will be chances to win door prizes throughout the day on Saturday. Come and enjoy good food from one of the many food vendors. Bring your lawn chairs and listen to music starting at 1 p.m. by Greenville’s own David Ginn and his band “Southern Rock Club.” In addition, there will be a blood drive co-sponsored by The American Legion Post 131. What a great way to give back this Christmas season! Lastly, there will be a Greenville High School reunion at the Greenville Baptist Church fellowship hall at 6 p.m. The Greenville Country Christmas Committee looks forward to seeing you and yours during this 30th celebration. A special thank you to all of our sponsors for this year’s event. Please contact Kathy Reams at (850) 948-1709 for more information.
