For the last 17 years, Executive Vice President Marcia Webb has been with Madison County Community Bank. Marcia Webb has been the executive vice president of Madison County Community Bank (MCCB) for the last 17 years, but her time to retire has come and it was with mixed emotions that the community, Webb's family and the staff at MCCB gathered around to celebrate and wish Webb the best during her retirement party on Thursday, Aug. 25.
Coworkers, county commissioners, school board members and others who had worked with Webb during her 17 years at MCCB stopped by to congratulate Webb on her retirement.
“It was a very nice gathering,” Webb said in retrospect, after the party had drawn to a close.
Seventeen years ago, Webb was one of the founders of MCCB, but her ties to Madison County and to the banking industry go back 45 years, when, in 1971, she started working for the Wells Fargo Bank in Madison (then called the Florida National Bank, though it later merged into Wachovia in 2001, later becoming Wells Fargo in 2008).
In 1999, Madison County Community Bank opened, and Webb has since served as the bank's executive vice president.
“Its been a humbling experience to be able to help the people of Madison for [17] years,” said Webb, before adding that the staff at MCCB are wonderful and she is thankful to have been at their side while watching the bank grow from a blank slate to where it is now.
Webb's official date of retirement will be Friday, Sept. 9, and she is looking towards the date with mixed feelings; undoubtably, Webb will miss the family she has made at MCCB and in the community, but she looks forward to spending more time with her children and grandchildren.
When possible, Webb also plans to spend her retirement traveling.
“I plan on just doing what I want to do,” said Webb.
