The first annual A.S.K. (Always Support Kids) Awareness Fun Fest took place on Friday, March 31, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Four Freedoms Park. Everyone in attendance had a great time during the event as there were many activities, such as: face painting, bouncy houses, food and drinks, exploring fire trucks, exploring law enforcement vehicles, petting K9 dogs and much more.
The purpose of this first annual event was to raise awareness of developmental disabilities
and to raise money to send kids to 4-H BUDDY camp. This event served its purpose as the A.S.K. Awareness Fun Fest raised $988, which will send approximately seven to eight kids to camp.
4-H BUDDY Camp (Building Understanding of Diversity with Dynamic Youth) is a camp structured for the needs of kids with developmental disabilities, located right here in Madison County. “4-H BUDDY camp is an amazing experience for our children, and they look forward to it every year. Every kid should experience camp, regardless of their abilities. We are so grateful for all the support we have received from our community. Without the support, there wouldn't be a 4-H BUDDY camp,” said Leslie McLeod, A.S.K. 4-H Leader. This year’s BUDDY Camp will be held at camp Cherry Lake from June 30 to July 1.
