The Class of 2024 at Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) started their last year of high school with a Senior Sunrise gathering on Wednesday, Aug. 9. As dawn broke, the kitchen at the Faglie residence in Monticello was bustling with students preparing a breakfast buffet while classmates chatted in groups around the family room.
ACA draws students from several different counties, and Senior Class President Emma Vickers explained the importance of enjoying a bit of social time before heading off to begin the academic year.
“We are all spread out from Perry to here, so we wanted to get together on the last first day of school,” she said.
The group circled up to mark the occasion, and ACA parent Floyd Faglie offered words of advice.
“Work on your friendships with one another,” said Faglie. “May will be here before you know it, and you'll be crying and sad because you'll be missing each other. So this year, work on your friendships. Everything is not a big deal, but friendships are a big deal. Remember that in your words and your actions.”
Faglie then offered up a prayer for support, and breakfast was served.
