Albert “Pete” Cruce was born, January 15, 1935 and passed away in his home on April 2 in Madison at 81 years of age.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6 at 2 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel with burial taking place at San Pedro Cemetery. Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 5 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home in Madison.
Pete is the son of the late, John “Abb” Cruce and Mattie Frances Cruce. His wife, Catherine Green Cruce, survives Pete. Pete is also survived by his daughter, Nancy Cruce Skipper of Madison; one brother and three sisters: A. J. Cruce of Steinhatchee, Fl., Ruby Laurance of Largo, Fl., Florise Watson of Madison and Robbie Earp, of Fayetteville, Nc.; six grandchildren: Nicholas Skipper, Brandon Skipper, Ashley Skipper, Bill Rutherford, Maria Rutherford Gilbert and Kristina Rutherford Gilbert; and four great grandchildren: Debra Sue Rutherford, Garrett Gilbert, Parker Gilbert and Connor Gilbert.
He is predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Cruce Rutherford; three brothers: William “Buddy” Cruce, Henry Cruce and Leonard “Sugar Boy” Cruce and one sister, Lilly Pridgeon.
In Pete’s lifetime, he served two years in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. After serving his time in the Army, Pete came home to start building his farm in 1961 at 24 years of age. His farm became very successful. When Pete was 80 years old in October 2015, he decided to sell all of his cattle due to his health conditions. Pete worked nearly 60 years on the farm with the help of his wife Catherine. They both succeeded managing and providing cattle, hay, hogs and even selling farm equipment Pete would build. Pete and his wife made an excellent team, in efforts to keep their family farming business going strong.
