Albert V. Blanton, age 75, of Greenville, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016 at his residence in Greenville.
Mr. Blanton was born on August 29, 1940 to Willie M. Blanton and Rachel A. (Garbett) Blanton. He was a lifelong resident of Greenville, and worked for 54 years at Florida Plywood before retiring as a boiler operator. He played football for Greenville High School and was an avid Gator fan. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and being with his family. He was one of the first coaches for the Greenville Little League team and enjoyed working with children.
He was a big man with a big heart and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Blanton was preceded in death by his parents: Willie M. and Rachel A. (Garbett) Blanton; two sisters: Berta Mae Touchton and Mozelle McGuire; three brothers: Tucker Blanton, Rufus Blanton and Ewell Blanton; and his nephews: Bill Blanton and Steven Blanton.
He is survived by a sister, Beatrice Dawson and two sisters-in-law: Deloris Blanton and Anna Mae Blanton, of Tampa, Fl.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home Madison Chapel with Bro. Steve Dobson officiating.
Family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Burns Funeral Home in Madison.
Interment will follow at Walker Cemetery in Madison County.
Flowers will be accepted or if desired, make a donation to St. Jude's for Children or The Gideon’s International.
