Allison Bennett is one of the new patrol officers at the Madison Police Department. She started on April 16. She worked at the Florida Department of Children and Families as a Child Abuse Investigator and Supervisor for seven and a half years before moving into law enforcement. She has worked as a police officer and deputy in South Florida. When asked why she made the career change, she said she wanted to take a different avenue in criminology. Bennett has her Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and her Master’s degree in Criminology from Florida State University. She is hoping to start working on her Doctorate soon. Her favorite part of her job is the diversity. She enjoys the fact that everyday is not the same. Bennett grew up in Kennesaw, Ga. and currently commutes from Tallahassee, where she lives with her five-year-old and seven-year-old daughters.
