Every year, in the beginning of March, local churches in the Madison community support and give to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, a project that is geared towards North American missions, primarily focusing on Canada and the U.S.
According to the North American Mission Board, Annie Armstrong served God tirelessly and was “a contagious advocate and supporter of missions efforts throughout the world. [She] led women to unite in missions endeavors that ultimately led to the formation of Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU), for which she served as the first corresponding secretary.”
Thanks to Armstrong, WMU has played a huge role in many communities across the nation, including Madison County. The WMU recently held a rally in order to raise funds for A Women's Pregnancy Center of Madison.
100 percent of the Annie Armstrong Easter offering goes towards mission funding. If anyone is wanting to donate, visit the Annie Armstrong website and click “donate.”
The Week of Prayer for North American Missions and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering is going to be held March 6 through March 13. The Week of Prayer for North American Missions Emphasis is "Here I am, send me." It is based on Isaiah 6:8. Each local church is encouraged to set a worthy goal so that the Southern Baptist Convention can reach their national goal of $70 million.
