Madison County Central will be hosting a Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) meeting on Thursday, October 1 at 5:30 p.m. By attending this meeting, parents will be able to get more involved and engage with the teachers of MCCS. Parents will take home activities that will help them close the learning gap of the students at MCCS and assist the teachers in closing those gaps. “I believe this is an opportunity for us to really reach out to parents,” said Curriculum and Instructional Specialist Tyhesha Judge-Fogle. Marion Davis, a representative from WestEd, an organization that improves education through research, development and service, came to the school to prepare the teachers for their first APTT meeting. The first training sessions were held at 11:30 a.m., 12:20 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. Fogle reported that APTT has been working with Taylor County for three years and went from having only 200 out of 1300 attending parent-teacher meetings to having 1100 parents attend. Fogle also added that babysitting services will be provided at the APTT meetings for parents that are unable to find someone to watch their younger children. Parents will be able to give the APTT their full attention while their children are taken care of.
