Mr. Aubrey Lynwood Lewis, 74, of Lovett, Fla. passed away on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021 at the Surrey Place Care Center, in Live Oak, Fla. Aubrey was born on Oct. 28, 1947, in Hahira, Ga. to Aubrey Arthur Lewis and Evelyn Hall Lewis. He was raised in Brooks and Lowndes Counties, in Georgia and was known as "Lynn" to his family and friends. He proudly served in the US Army in the 101st Airborne Infantry "Screaming Eagles" in 1968 and 1969 during which time he served in the Vietnam War. He spent many years working in the Peach Industry in Madison County before going to work as a Truck Driver for AmeriGas until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time outdoors whether he was hunting, fishing, or sitting on the back porch drinking his coffee and watching the animals in the yard. He also enjoyed horses, guns, watching westerns and reading western novels. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Rhonda Giles.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna Brooks Lewis; two daughters, Jeannie L. McDaniel and Michelle Lewis; two well-loved and cherished granddaughters, Jordan Vann and Sloan Bickford; a nephew, James Giles (Kathy); and Niece, Ilene Norton (Ricky); a beloved niece and caregiver, Jessie Goss; several "bonus grandchildren:" Brian and Aubri Bish; Bryan and Brett McDaniel; as well as a host of other nieces and nephews, all who lovingly referred to him as "Papa Bear."
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 in the Shiloh Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Paul Brooks Jr. officiating. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
