The Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) Warriors varsity football team began their 2016 football season at home on Friday, Aug. 19 with an impressive win over Lighthouse Christian. The final score of the contest was 32-0.
Warriors quarterback, senior Daulton Browning, of Madison, was named Offensive Player of the Week with his 12 completions in 19 attempts, passing for 154 total yards, including two touchdowns. Wide receiver, Joe Walton, a junior, led the Warriors receiving corps with four catches totaling 74 yards, followed by senior Joe Hannon, who had four catches for 43 yards. The Warriors' leading rusher for the contest was senior running back Joshua Greene, of Madison, who rushed for 98 yards on 19 rushing attempts. Junior, Phillip Williams, added 83 yards rushing on 12 attempts for the Warriors.
Defensively, the Warriors forced six turnovers in the shut out victory. Senior linebacker, P-cole Harrell, had five solo tackles and one assist. Senior defensive lineman, Darren Ellis, was named the Defensive Player of the Week for his two forced fumbles and one tackle for loss. The Warrior Award was earned by Joshua Greene.
Next, the ACA Warriors will travel to Branford to face the Buccaneers of Branford High School on Friday, Aug. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
