Both the Aucilla Christian Academy(ACA) girls and boys basketball teams celebrated Senior Nightat home on Friday, Jan.6, by defeating the Ocala Christian Crusaders. The Lady Warriors improved their record to 11-3 with a 51-40 win over the Lady Crusaders. The Warriors improved their record to 4-7 with their50-44 win over the Crusaders.
The Lady Warriors went out to an early, 13-6 lead in the opening quarter. During the second quarter, the Lady Warriors continued to add to their lead and, by halftime, held a 26-13 advantage. The Lady Crusaders were able to cut into the Lady Warriors' lead during the third period, which ended with the Lady Warriors still on top, 36-27.
The Lady Warriors outpaced the Lady Crusaders during the final moments of the contest to finish with a 51-40 victory.
Samantha Drawdy led the Lady Warriors with 27 points, hitting the 1,000 career points total for the Lady Warriors. Madison Rudd had eight points and six rebounds for the Lady Warriors.
Then, the Warriors hit the court running to take on the Ocala Christian Crusader boys.The Warriors fell behind 11-13 at the end of the first quarter. During the second period, the Warriors managed to stay even with the Crusaders,who held a slight 18-20 edge going into halftime.
During the third period, the Warriors were able to chip away at the Crusaders' lead, and the score was 26-25, in favor of the Crusaders, after three quarters. The fourth quarter continued to be a closely fought contest, and by the time the final buzzer sounded, the Warriors had tied the score at 38-38, sending the game into overtime.
During the overtime period, the Warriors were able to double up on the Crusaders to take the 50-44 victory.
Ethan Bass led the Warriors with 17 points. Jace Grant chalked up a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.The Warriors will be back on their home court on Friday, Jan.20, when they host Wakulla Christian School. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The Lady Warriors will finish their season on the road.
