On Saturday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m., the members of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church held a Beast Feast for the community and church members. This feast was held in order to have fellowship, fun and was a form of outreach for the church. Pastor Bryant Thigpen stated that as a result of this event, one person was saved.
The Beast Feast entailed a wild game supper, door prizes and a gun raffle, in which Chad Gillian was the winner of a Henry .22 long riffle. The money raised during this special event went towards the church's evangelism fund, which covers the expenses of outreach ministries of the church. The next day, Sunday, Jan 15, found the members of the church decked out in camouflage clothing during the 11 a.m. worship service, for their annual "Camo Day."
Pastor Thigpen stated there were over 100 in attendance, breaking their usual attendance record. Extra special to the weekend was the guest speaker and soloist, Bobby Sellers. Sellers is formerly a lead vocalist of the Kingsmen Quartet and is currently a soloist. Sellers also has his own Youtube Channel called “Hook, Line and Singer.” For more information or if anyone wishes to attend St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, please call (850) 464-0114 or visit the church at 5905 NW Lovett Rd.
