It has become a community tradition for over 20 years that the students from Becky’s Dance Steps Studio perform at Madison’s Down Home Days Festival. That’s exactly what the studio’s dancers will do again on Friday, April 17th at 6:00pm on Pinckney Street near the south end of the Courthouse in front of the Annex. A preview of the studio’s upcoming 39th annual recital, “iDance” will feature dancers ranging from ages 3 – 18 proudly performing in their sparkling new costumes. There will be something for everyone as the dancers showcase a variety of 14 ballet, tap and jazz numbers to music from classic to contemporary following the theme ”iDance” which will portray different apps. Always a showstopper, the adorable 3 year olds will perform their signature dance “Body Rock” as they make their “stage debut.” Then each age group will showcase one of their recital dances such as “I Can Cook” (Cooking app), Me & My Teddy Bear (Teddy Bear! app), & We’re In the Money (Banking app) just to name a few. Another new addition to the show will be a production number, “Ocean Adventure”, performed by the award winning dance team from BDSS. Since the 18 member team will be headed to Platinum National Dance Competition during June, they will conduct two fundraisers in conjunction with the Down Home Days studio performance. There will be a cake auction just prior to the show and the team will also be selling pork dinners consisting of a Bar-B-Q sandwich, chips, desert and drink for $7.00 on the Courthouse lawn prior to and during the show. According to Becky Robinson, studio owner and director, “My students always work very hard to get ready for our Down Home Days show and look forward to the performance each year. It’s a chance for Madison’s talented young dancers to gain some performance experience while giving their friends and family a sneak peek of their upcoming recital and to do what they like to do best…Dance!” (In case of rain, the show will be rescheduled for Saturday, April 18 at 11:00am on Hwy 90 facing the park).
