Bertha Jean Phillips "BJ", 67, passed away on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 in Madison, Fla. She was born Feb. 22, 1953 in Lee, Fla. to Pasco Lee Rye and Bethana Mae Hale Rye.
B.J. was of the Church of God faith and was a member of Midway Church of God. B. J. worked with Dixie Packers for a number of years, for Lee School and was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, loved her husband and was an excellent care giver to her sister Suzie. She also liked to fish in the family ponds and care for her flower garden.
B.J. was preceded in death by her parents, Pasco Lee Rye and Bethana Mae Hale; and a brother, Roscoe Rye and his wife, Dorothy.
B.J. is survived by Roy Phillips, her loving husband of 46 years; children: Jeannie Phillips, Buddy Phillips (Tyger), Cary Phillips, Chad Phillips (Amanda); sisters, Mozella Phillips (Turner) and Suzie Rye; brothers: John Hazel Rye (Linda) and Roy Rye; grandchildren: Dixie, Daisy and Levi Phillips; as a well as a host of loving nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Corinth Cemetery with Greg Ragans and Trent Abbott officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Madison. Social Distancing will be observed at the service. Donations may be made in her memory to a charitable organization of your choice.
