A bicyclist was struck by a truck after failing to stop at a stop sign on Thursday, May 14 at 6:38 p.m., at the intersection of Christmas Tree Lane and SW ADA Lane. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Nathaniel Burnett, 50, of Madison was traveling southbound on SW ADA Lane on a bicycle. Flammar Williams, 58, of Madison was traveling westbound on Christmas Tree Lane in his 1992 Chevrolet Silverado. Burnett did not stop the bicycle at the stop sign on SW ADA Lane as he made a left turn on Christmas Tree Lane and traveled into the path of Williams’ vehicle. Williams steered the vehicle to the left to avoid a collision and traveled southwest into the eastbound traveling lane of Christmas Tree Lane. Williams’ front collided with Burnett’s left side. Burnett was knocked down and Williams’ front tire traveled onto his hip and torso area. Williams’ vehicle’s point of final rest was at point of impact facing southwest. Burnett and his bicycle’s point of final rest was at point of impact facing south. Burnett was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with incapacitating injuries. Williams received no injures. Williams was charged with failure to provide insurance, unknowingly operating vehicle while driver’s license suspended or revoked and operating a vehicle with an expired registration. Burnett was charged for failure to stop at a stop sign.
