The Boyz to Kings (BTK) family and other community partners would like to invite the first 150 youth out to the third annual “Boyz To Kings Empowerment Lock In.” This event is free of charge.
The lock in will be held at the Madison County Central School gym beginning on Friday, April 22 at 6 p.m. until Saturday, April 23 at 8:30 a.m.
Safety is the BTK's first priority. Once the youth is in the gym they will not be allowed to leave the premises unless it is a family emergency. The purpose of the all-male lock in is to teach these young men valuable life skills to develop a positive attitude toward themselves and their future. The lock in will also give them the ability to solve conflict, make informed decisions, show respect and consideration to authorities/ peers and develop competency skills of team work and cooperation as well as learning the importance of self-control over birth control through SRA messages.
There will be activities going on and cash prizes given away. There will also be a guest speaker sponsored by the Florida Department of Health and so much more. This annual event is open to youth grades five to 12 and registration forms will be at the front office of each school in Madison County.
The BTK family has been in existence since 2010 and is continually growing with a diverse population of youth and parents. BTK is led by parents, so empowering other adults through their involved acts have been really effective. BTK would like to invite the parents to come out and eat dinner with the youth before leaving them for the remainder of the night. Boyz to Kings would love for more men inside the community to reach out and decide to devote their time to the young men during this event and others.
