Bro. Johnnie Davis passed away on Monday, Oct. 23, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga.
Davis was born on May 4, 1932, to Enoch Davis and Estella Wilson Davis in Madison. He attended Madison County Public School. Davis confessed Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of Genesis Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Oliver Bradley. In Jan. 8, 1953, he joined the US Army. After completing his tour with the Army, Davis returned home to Madison, where he was employed at Farmer’s Co-op from 1955 until his retirement in 2007.
Davis leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Sister Mae Francis Davis; one son, Lonnie Davis; one grandson, Fontana Davis; two great-granddaughters, Krista Davis and Fontasia Davis; one great-grandson, Fontana Davis Jr.; one brother, Enoch Davis Jr.; and three sisters: Vera L. Hampton, Emma Ward and Wadie Ruth (Moses) Gant; a goddaughter, Tamesha (Andrew) Beall; two brother-in-laws, James Randall and John Henry (Betty) Randall; one sister-in-law, Annie (Ocie) Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral for Bro. Johnnie Davis will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Cooks & Cooper Chapel, located at 162 SW Third Ave, in Madison, at 2 p.m. and the visitation will be Friday, Nov. 3, between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., at Cooks & Cooper Funeral Home.
