The season was cut short and didn't quite end the way they wanted, but the season the Madison County Central School (MCCS) did have was nothing short of spectacular. The Broncos had already tallied double-digit wins when the season was cut short in March.
The accomplishments for the Broncos baseball team were recognized during a short, outdoor ceremony on Thursday, June 4, at the Madison County Recreation Park. Each player received a trophy and other players were recognized for extra accomplishments such as Most Improved Player, "Mr. Bronco," Best Offensive Player, Highest Grade Point Average, etc. Coach Mike Mobley encouraged the players who will be moving on to Madison County High School to keep working hard, both on the field and in the classroom. Individual players who were recognized were: Aiden Richie – Mr. Bronco, Wesley Borgert – Defensive Player of the Year, Will Latner – Offensive Player of the Year, Jailyn Cooks – Highest Grade Point Average, Jacarre Fleming – Most Valuable Player, Jason McDaniel – Scion Award, John Christian – Most Improved and Michael Mobley, Jr. – Utility Award.
The Broncos had amassed a 13-2-2 record and had scored a total of 176 runs and had 146 stolen bases when their season was cut short after a 16-0 shut-out victory over Havana Middle School, on Friday, March 13. The Broncos were at the top of the district standings.
