On Tuesday, Feb. 16, the Madison Central School Broncos baseball team beat Hamilton County 16-2 at Hamilton in six innings.
The Broncos scored seven runs in the sixth inning, with an RBI single by Kyle Sealey, a passed ball, an error, an RBI single by Brannon Tolar, a two-run triple by Riley Borgert and an RBI single by Sealey during the sixth inning.
Borgert did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Broncos, reaching base three times. He scored two runs and had two RBIs.
Mitch Rutherford brought the heat against Hamilton County during his outing. Rutherford held Hamilton County hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
The Broncos easily handled Hamilton County pitching as seven hitters combined for 11 hits, 10 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
The lead stayed with the Broncos after the first, when they scored one run on an error.
The Broncos scored one run in the second inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fourth. In the second, the Broncos scored on a passed ball, bringing home Zane Herring.
The Broncos tacked on another four runs in the third inning. An error scored Blaydon Plain to get the Broncos on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Vinsonta Allen's solo blast.
The Broncos added two more runs in the top of the fifth. Tolar singled, plating Caleb Ginn to start the inning.
Riley Borgert carried the Broncos to a 15-6 victory over Taylor County during the game held on Thursday, Feb. 18 at Taylor County High School with a strong game at the plate and on the mound.
Borgert did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Broncos, reaching base four times. He scored three runs and had two RBIs. He singled in the second and fifth innings.
Borgert brought the heat against Taylor County during his outing. Taylor County managed just one hit off of Borgert, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 1 2/3 innings of work.
The Broncos beat Taylor County thanks to 10 hits, including two extra base hits. The Broncos scored seven runs in the fifth inning on the Broncos scored in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Kyle Sealey, an RBI single by Rhett Rutherford, an error, an RBI single by Borgert, an error and a passed ball.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the fourth inning, with seven lead changes.
The Broncos took the lead in the fourth inning and held on for the victory. The Broncos scored a three-run single by Sealey off Mcmullen, scoring Borgert, Plain and Allen.
Kyler Howell got the win for the Broncos. He allowed three runs over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered three hits.
Mullins ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in three innings, walked four and struck out two.
The top of the first saw the Broncos take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Sealey that brought home Borgert started the inning off.
After posting one run in the second, the Broncos again scored one in the third inning. In the second inning, the Broncos scored on an RBI single by Borgert, scoring Chalon Howard.
