For years, former Madison County High School (MCHS) baseball coach Terry Barrs had an item on his “bucket list.” That was to see a baseball game at the iconic “Busch Stadium” in St. Louis, Mo. As a surprise gift from his wife, Revonda, she managed to get tickets for a game in St. Louis. But, it wasn't just any game. Revonda wanted to get tickets to a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers. The obvious reason being that one of Coach Barrs' former players is none other than Lorenzo Cain, center fielder with the Brewers.
Cain and Barrs have remained close friends over the years so Coach Barrs sent Cain a text message when they were on their way to the stadium on Thursday, May 26. Cain was certainly surprised and was happy to hear from his old high school coach. The two didn't have much time to visit before that Thursday night game, so Cain arranged to get tickets for Coach Barrs and his family for the next day's game. Cain also made it possible for Coach Barrs to meet with Cain on the field before the game on Friday, May 27.
These were the first two games of a four-game series between the Cardinals and Brewers over Memorial Day Weekend. The Brewers won the first game of the series, 4-3. The Cardinals won the second game, 4-2. The two teams split the series 2-2.
