On Thursday, Dec. 1, a two vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of US Hwy 90 and County Road 255, in Madison.
At approximately 7:42 a.m., Michael Derius McQauy, Jr., 18, of Live Oak was traveling westbound on US Hwy 90 (State Road 10), in his 2005 Toyota Camry. Paul Raymon Everett, 41, of Springfield, Ga. was traveling in the same direction in his 1999 Freight-liner Semi.
Everett began to slow down to make a right turn onto County Road 255 when the front of McQuay's car collided with the rear of the semi. After the collision, McQuay's vehicle came to a rest on State Road 10 in the westbound travel lane facing west. Everett was able to safely move onto the south shoulder of State Road 10 to a resting place, facing west.
McQuay was charged with careless driving and not having insurance for the driver.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted by the Madison County Sheriff's Office, Madison County Fire Rescue, Madison County EMS and County Line Towing.
