Careless driving leads to wreck

A driver was cited for careless driving after driving off Interstate 10 and colliding with a tree on Tuesday, April 28 at 5:07 a.m., near mile marker 236. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kenneth Ononye, 39, of Jacksonville, Fl. was traveling east on I-10 in the inside eastbound lane. His 2009 Nissan Frontier began to travel in a northeasterly direction and left the roadway to the left. The vehicle then began to travel in a southeasterly direction. As it crossed both eastbound lanes while traveling in a southeasterly direction, the vehicle began to rotate clockwise. The vehicle left the roadway to the south while facing southwest and continuing in a southeasterly direction. The left front of the vehicle collided with a tree on the south shoulder of I-10. Due to the collision, the vehicle rotated clockwise until facing north and came to a final rest, just northeast of the collision with the tree. Ononye was cited for careless driving. He received minor injuries from the crash and was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. His 2009 Nissan Frontier received $13,000 worth in damages.
