On June 12, 2021, Carolyn Lee “Carol” Musser Waldrep passed away peacefully at Rose Tara Senior Living in King, N.C. She was 83-years-old.
Carol Waldrep was born on Nov. 5, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio to Edward D. Musser and Hazel M. (Dorian) Musser. Her family moved to Madison, Fla., in 1951. Carol graduated from Madison High School in 1955.
Carol married her high school sweetheart, Thomas William “Bill” Waldrep in 1955. Bill and Carol lived in Madison for two years as their family grew. Thomas William “Tom” Waldrep, Jr. was born in 1957, and Kinch Edward “Kin” Waldrep was found in a sewer hole in 1959.
Carol and Bill moved their family to Gainesville, Fla. and then to Lexington, Ky. and later to Raleigh, N.C., so that Bill could attend school. Carol took care of her growing boys. In 1970, the family moved to Greenfield, Ind., so Bill could take a job with Eli Lilly & Company as a research scientist. Carol kept an immaculate home, was active in local civic organizations, was an accomplished seamstress and was generally focused on her family.
After Bill retired from Eli Lilly, he and Carol moved to Destin, Fla. in 1991. They enjoyed golf, a good drink and dining with family and friends. In 2018, Bill and Carol moved back to Madison, where Bill passed away in 2019.
Carol is survived by her sons, Tom (Ellen) and Kin (Stephanie); her 11 grandchildren; and her 11 great-grandchildren. Carol was beautiful, intelligent and nurturing. She and Bill loved to travel with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, located at 235 NW Orange Avenue, in Madison. Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home. A private burial service will follow.
