Carolyn “Sister” Bell McCain was born on Dec. 13, 1955 in Okaloosa County, Fla. at Eglin Air Force Base to the late Fred Bell and Edwa Jo Stanaland Bell. She passed away on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021 in her home in Tallahassee, Fla.
Carolyn graduated from Lafayette High School in 1974. She attended North Florida Junior College in Madison, graduating from the LPN Program in 1992.
During her career in nursing, she worked in home health, at the Leon County Health Department and was currently working at the FSU University Health Services in Tallahassee.
She loved traveling and spending time with her late husband, Joseph Scanlon McCain, Jr. She loved her friends, family and her students. Carolyn loved to read, cook, needlework and of course, the Seminoles.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, of Madison.
She is survived by her brother, Darrel Reid Bell; and her sister, Karen Marie Bell Redish (Lowell), both of Live Oak, Fla.; along with her nieces and nephews: Denise Bell, of Madison; Elliot Redish, of Live Oak; Kenya Bell Padgett, of Perry, Fla.; Collin Redish (Doris),of Wellborn, Fla.; Celeste Redish (Ramsez), of Duluth, Ga.; Patricia Bell, of Live Oak; and Joey McCain, of Bartow, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Roy Bell; and her nephew, Jeremy Ryan Bell, of Perry, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org/give. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Oakridge Cemetery, in Madison.
