Over 35 billion gallons of beer are produced worldwide per year.  Scientists have found evidence of beer production dating back as far as 6,000 B.C. Beer and other alcoholic drinks, such as wine, were a pillar of Egyptian society. Ancient Mesopotamians wrote poems about beer, considering it proof of divine existence
