At a special meeting of the Madison County Board of County Commissioners on Monday, Nov. 28, Ann Vickers of Certified Towing, Inc., made a request of the commissioners to amend a contract her company had made with the board earlier this year. Presently the county has entered into a contract with Certified Towing where the county will convey (at little or no cost) a certain parcel of land to Certified Towing. This contract was contingent upon Certified Towing obtaining financing and development approvals for the proposed business. The original deadline for these requirements was Thursday, Dec. 1. Vickers requested that this deadline be extended.
Vickers' plan is to build and open a 4,000 square foot NAPA store, a Penske truck rental location, and an Enterprise Car Rental location. Further plans are to include a diesel and auto repair facility as well. The location for this facility is on Dale Leslie Dr., near I-10. Vickers anticipates that this business will employ approximately 20 full time employees. A specific timetable for completion has yet to be determined. Vickers said the only thing she is waiting on, in terms of completing the contractual requirements with the county, is financing for the construction project. Vickers asked for an amendment to extend the deadline to Feb. 10. The commission voted to approve a motion to extend the deadline to April 10.
Vickers also informed the commission that she will be dissolving the Certified Towing company and will be forming a new corporation under the name “Certified Service Center, Inc.” Vickers also asked that the site plan be amended to show an 18 foot wide driveway as opposed to the 24 foot wide driveway originally listed in the site plan. This will be put onto the agenda for the Wednesday, Dec. 14 meeting.
The next regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners will be on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 9 a.m. in Room 107 at the Madison County Courthouse Annex, located at 229 SW Pinckney St., in Madison.
