Charles Michael “Mike” Fielding, 59, passed away on July 14, 2022, in Tallahassee, Fla., suddenly from a brief illness. Mike was born October 3, 1962, in Goldsboro, N.C. to Charles Thomas Fielding and Hazel Irene Thomas Fielding.
Mike honorably served our country in the United States Air Force during Operation Desert Storm and was a member of the Air Force Honor Guard. He was of the Baptist faith. Mike received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas University. Mike began a career in law enforcement that spanned 24 years. He worked with the Gainesville Police Dept. and served as a deputy in Hall County and Thomas County, Ga. Mike was currently working as a fraud investigator for Wells Fargo. Mike was an avid Alabama fan, “ROLL TIDE” and loved watching his son, Jacob, play high school and college football. Throughout the years, he stayed involved with the Air Force Honor Guard Society and was very proud of his military service. Family was the most important thing to him. He was a devoted son, brother and husband, a loving father, uncle and the world’s best “Big Pop.” He loved and cherished them all deeply.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Thomas Fielding.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Phillips Fielding; his children: Kristyn (Patrick) Beasley, Jacob Humphrey, Allan Johnson, Taylor (Alex) Dubuisson, and Brandon Johnson; his mother, Hazel Fielding; his sisters; Melissa F. Templeton and Kathie F. (Larry) Lampkin; grandchildren: Asher Reese, Hallie Grace, Marlie Kate and his grand dog Cotton Ellabelle; his nieces and nephews: Jessica (Christopher) Fennell, Robin (Justin) Hoskins, Christopher (Jaime) Lampkin, Megan (J.D.) Gibson and Oxford Chaplin, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 23, at 11:30 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Madison, with Steve McHargue officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, at Burns Funeral Home of Madison. A reception will be held at 7 p.m. in Thomasville, Ga. at the Plaza Restaurant. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services Dept.
