Surrounded by family, friends, peers and former players, Madison County High School (MCHS) Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Mike Coe recently joined the 44th class to be inducted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) Hall of Fame. On Saturday, Jan. 11, Coe joined five other coaches who were all nominated by their peers, reviewed by the FACA Awards Committee and voted on by the members of the FACA Board of Directors. The inductees were honored during a luncheon at the Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort on Saturday, Jan. 11.
"What a great day it was with family and former players," said Coach Coe after the ceremony. "I was able to share, basically, my testimony and how I've wound up where I am. I've had so many impact my life and help me along the way. I do want to share this. My name may be on the plaque, but make no mistake about it, it is because of the great men I've been fortunate enough to have on our staff and, more importantly, the young men who have sacrificed so very much through the years in order for us to have the success we have had. So for that, I say 'thank you!' To all the men who've been on our staff, a huge thank you as well. You go above and beyond daily and it does not go unnoticed."
Coach Coe began his head coaching career at MCHS in 2010, after serving on the staff of Frankie Carroll as an assistant coach. Since then, he has amassed a 112-20-1 record, winning state championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Criteria for induction into the Hall of Fame includes a minimum of 20 years of service in the coaching profession in Florida and/or participation in FACA. Selection is also based on coaching record, championships, head coaching tenure, FACA service and awards.
