The Madison County High School (MCHS) boys varsity basketball season came to an end on Friday, Feb. 17, when the Cowboys were defeated, 55-41, in the Region Three semi-final by the Panthers of Newberry High School, in Newberry, Fla.
The Cowboys fell behind early and, by the end of the opening period, found themselves in a 10-point, 17-7 hole. During the second period, the Cowboys were able to keep pace with the Panthers somewhat, but the Cowboys were still in a hole when halftime rolled around, with the score 26-15, in favor of the Panthers. During the third period, the Panthers continued to build on their advantage and the score was 39-23, going into the final quarter. The Cowboys did manage to cut into the Panthers lead during the final quarter, but it was not enough and the Panthers ended the Cowboys' season with a 55-41 defeat.
LaBron Lee was the top scorer for the Cowboys, with 10 points.
The Cowboys finished the season with a 16-7 mark.
