The new season for the Madison County High School (MCHS) golf team is underway. The team recently completed two matches on their home greens at the Madison Golf and Country Club. On Thursday, Aug. 31, the Cowboy golfers hosted a three-team match with Lafayette High School and North Florida Christian School. MCHS won the match, shooting a team score of 193. Lafayette High School followed with a 229, and North Florida Christian School shot a 278.
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, MCHS was again at home when they played Suwannee County High School. The MCHS golfers won the close contest by just three strokes. The Cowboys shot a team score of 183 while Suwannee County had a score of 186. Payton Davis was the top golfer for the Cowboys, shooting an impressive 36.
The next match for the Cowboys will be at home against the Warriors of Aucilla Christian Academy. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 3:45 p.m. at the Madison Golf and Country Club.
