During the Madison County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) regular session on Wednesday, Jan. 22, the 2019 Class 1A State Champions, the Madison County Cowboys, were honored with a proclamation for their feat of winning three consecutive state championships.
The Madison County Cowboys took to the Gene Cox Field, in Tallahassee, on Saturday, Dec. 7, where they soundly defeated the Blountstown Tigers, 70-35. This win allowed the team to bring home their third-consecutive Class 1A State Championship, after a grueling and demanding 2019 season.
Following the reading of the proclamation, Coach Mike Coe gave credit to their players for giving up their summers and sometimes, holidays, to practice and improve their on-field skills. He also mentioned his coaching staff, who are a big part in preparation and execution.
The proclamation reads: "The members of the Madison County High School Varsity Football Team and its coaches, through their conscientious and dedicated efforts, have brought great credit upon themselves, their school and the county in which they reside, and are truly deserving of recognition for a job well done."
