On Thursday, April 2, the Madison County Varsity Cowboys played Mayo and won, 1-0. In the third inning, the Cowboys scored when Akevious Williams made a RBI single. Mayo would not score for the rest of the game. They managed only one hit off of Cowboys pitcher, Dylan Burns, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five. Burns went 3-1 at bat, with one single; Jerry Jackson went 1-1, singling in the fifth; and Akevious Williams went 3-1, with a RBI single in the third. On Friday, April 3, the Cowboys played East Gadsden and won in a 27-1 shutout. The Cowboys scored their 27 runs in the first three innings. The first inning saw an error, a RBI single by Cody Lange, a walk by Gabe Miller, two fielder's choices, a two-run single by CJ Bell, a two-run single by Alex Tyson and two fielder's choices, an error and a RBI single by Jerry Jackson. The second inning saw a RBI double by Tyson, a RBI single by Dylan Burns, a RBI single by Jacob Johnson, a RBI single by Jackson, a RBI single by Steven Walden, a RBI single by Bell, a RBI single by Akevious Williams, a fielder's choice, an error, a walk by Johnson, a RBI single by Jackson, a RBI single by Walden, an error and a RBI single by Williams. East Gadsden's pitching suffered at the hands of the Cowboys, as eight hitters combined for 18 hits, 22 RBIs and 22 runs scored. Stand-out players included Jerry Jackson, who went 5-4, with four RBIs and four singles; CJ Bell, who went 6-2, with two singles and three RBIs; Alex Tyson, who went 5-4, with three singles, a double and four RBIs; Akevious Williams, who went 5-3, with two singles, a triple and two RBIs; and Steven Walden, who went 2-2, with two singles and two RBIs. On Monday, April 6, the Cowboys matched up with Godby and won 14-4. In the top of the first, the game became tense as Godby took the lead, 2-0. However, their lead didn't last long; the Cowboys scored on a two-run single by Cody Lange. In the second, the Cowboys scored on a RBI single by Steven Walden, plating Miller. They made one more run in the fourth and, in the fifth, the Cowboys scored on a two-run single by Alex Tyson, scoring Jackson and Bell. They scored three more runs in the sixth. Standout players included CJ Bell, who went 3-2, with two singles and a RBI; Akevious Williams, who went 5-2, with two singles; and Cody Lange, who went a perfect 2-2, with two singles and three RBIs. In pitching, Alex Tyson pitched 1.1 innings, allowing no earned runs, no hits and striking out one. Dylan Burns started, pitching 4.2 innings, allowing two earned runs, seven hits and striking out three.
