The Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowboys traveled across the state line to face the Wildcats of Valdosta High School on Tuesday, March 10. Strong pitching and good defensive play helped the Cowboys chalk up a 6-0 shut-out of the Wildcats. The Cowboys went out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning. The Cowboys added insurance runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to help secure the win.
Riley Borgert went one-for-three with two RBIs for the Cowboys. Rhett Rutherford also had one hit in three at-bats with two RBIs. Blaydon Plain, Vinsonta Allen, JD Bryan and Brannon Tolar also had hits for the Cowboys.
Allen, Mitch Rutherford and Plain combined efforts on the pitcher's mound yielding just one hit and five walks while striking out eight.
The Cowboys will be in action at home on Friday, March 13, against the War Eagles of Wakulla High School. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
