The Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowboys racked up 580 yards of offense on their way to a dominating 54-22 victory over the Red Devils of Williston High School on Saturday, Sept. 16. The win brought the Cowboys' record to an undefeated 4-0 so far this season.
It took a little while for the Cowboys to get on the scoreboard, but by the end of the first period, the score was 14-0 in favor of the Cowboys. The Cowboys scored another touchdown early in the second quarter, and Williston got on the scoreboard with 6:43 left in the first half, bringing the score to 20-7, still in the Cowboys' favor. It only took about 20 seconds for the Cowboys to respond with another touchdown of their own. When Williston scored their second touchdown of the evening, the Cowboys were again quick to respond with a touchdown of their own. The first half ended with the Cowboys ahead with a 33-14 lead. The Cowboys continued into the third quarter with two more touchdowns. The Cowboys capped off their scoring with one more touchdown, early in the final period. Another Red Devil score brought the score to 54-22 with just over five minutes left in the contest.
Tre Adams again proved himself to be a bonafide dual-threat quarterback with 151 yards through the air, completing five out of nine pass attempts, with one touchdown pass to Derrick Staten. Adams also had 92 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground. Teryon Henderson had 110 rushing yards on 14 attempts. Derrick Staten also hit the century mark on the ground with 103 yards on four attempts and one touchdown run. Marcus Ghent had 92 yards rushing on six rushing attempts and one touchdown. Cameron Brown also added a short touchdown run of two yards. The Offensive Player of the Week for the Cowboys was Marcus Ghent. There was no single player named as the Defensive Player of the Week. The Special Teams Player of the Week was Zarkese Haynes. The Offensive “Hawg” of the Week was Zac Coe and the Defensive “Hawg” of the Week was Cameron Brown.

The next game for the Cowboys will be a home game against Columbia County High School, from Lake City. The game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 22, at Boot Hill Stadium, on the MCHS campus. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
