The Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowboys chalked up another impressive win by upsetting powerhouse Rickards High School, on Friday, Aug. 26 at Boot Hill Stadium. The cowboys racked up another 312 rushing yards on their way to defeating the Raiders by a score of 27-18.
In addition to another dominating rushing attack, the Cowboys took advantage of turnovers and several key penalties by the Raiders to help seal the victory. The Cowboys had a total of four takeaways, including three interceptions and a fumble recovery. In addition, ball control was a key factor. The Cowboys kept possession of the football for nearly nine and a half minutes of the third quarter.
Special Teams Player of the week was Tinarus Irvine. Defensive players of the week were Tinarus Irvine and Zion Jones. Offensive players of the week were Tucker Cherry, Jamarrion Coasey, and Teryon Henderson, who had 130 yards rushing on 22 attempts. This week marks the second game in a row that Henderson has rushed for over 100 yards in a game.
The Cowboys will next travel to Alachua to face the Raiders of Santa Fe High School. That game will take place on Friday, Sept. 2, at the Santa Fe High School stadium, located at 16213 NW US Hwy 441 in Alachua, Fl. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
