One Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowgirl, Jalicia Pride, will be competing in the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A, State Girls Weightlifting Championship in the 169 lb weight class. She is the first Cowgirl in the history of the MCHS girls weightlifting program to progress to the state championship meet.
Suwannee High School, located at 1314 Pine Ave. SW in Live Oak, will be hosting the state championship Class 1A and Class 2A meets this weekend.
Class 1A will compete in two sessions on Friday, Feb. 12. Session one will take place at 9:30 a.m. and will include the following weight classes: 101 lb., 110 lb., 119 lb., 129 lb. and 139 lb. Session two will take place at 1:30 p.m. and will include the following weight classes: 154 lb., 169 lb., 183 lb., 199 lb. and unlimited. Class 2A will also compete in two sessions on Saturday, Feb. 13, with session one taking place at 9:30 a.m. and session two taking place at 1:30 p.m.
