In front of family, friends, former coaches, fellow students and media, Halie Wetherington made good on her commitment to sign with the University of West Florida Argonauts. On Monday, Nov. 16, the Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowgirl put her name to paper to continue her athletic and academic career with one of the most-respected Division II softball programs in the nation.
During her career as a Cowgirl, Wetherington primarily played second base and pitcher. On the mound, she has a total ERA of 3.06, with 86 strike-outs while holding opponents to a .206 batting average. She also has a fielding percentage of .928. At the plate, Wetherington has a .340 batting average, with 43 runs scored, 53 hits and 47 RBIs.
While at the University of West Florida, Wetherington plans to study environmental sciences. She is the daughter of Sam and Michelle Wetherington, of Madison.
