In their most one-sided win of the season, the Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowgirls basketball team completely dominated the Lady Bulldogs of Taylor County High School on Saturday, Jan. 20, in Perry. The Cowgirls shot 35 percent from the field on their way to the devastating victory. Going into the second quarter, the Cowgirls had a 30 point lead, holding the Lady Bulldogs scoreless. By the time halftime rolled around, the Cowgirls were comfortably ahead 46-1. The Cowgirls slowed their onslaught during the second half and cruised to a 59-3 final score.
Jamya Palmer led the Cowgirls in scoring with 13 points and five rebounds. Shakira Cooks had 10 points and two rebounds. Lasage Ferguson, Brittany Kinsey, Zharia Norwood, Ken'neatha Newsome, Bri'shauna Conner, Markeyvia House, Keniya Davis and Te'zajahia Miller also contributed to the Cowgirls' scoring.
The next home game for the Cowgirls will be on Friday, Jan. 26 against the Lady Hornets of Lafayette High School. Tip-off time is 7 p.m.
