On Thursday, Sept. 8, the Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowgirls junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams made the short trip to Perry to face the rival Lady Bulldogs of Taylor County High School. The varsity match was a classic, highly competitive match that went into a fifth set before the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Cowgirls, 3-2.
The evening began with the two junior varsity teams taking the court. Although there were some close moments and highly contested volleys, the Lady Bulldogs emerged victorious, winning the match in two straight sets, 25-15 and 25-15.
The varsity match was extremely competitive, with the advantage continuing to ebb and flow between the two teams. The first set went to the Cowgirls, who appeared to be hitting their stride. The score of the first set was 25-14. The Lady Bulldogs responded in a big way with effective work from the serve line. The Lady Bulldogs took the second set, 25-13. With each team seeking an advantage, the Lady Bulldogs won the third set, 25-19. With their backs against the wall, the Cowgirls fought back to edge out the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth set, 25-23.
