It was a tough evening for the Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowgirls on Monday, Sept. 18, when they hosted the Lady Bulldogs of Suwannee High School. Both the junior varsity and varsity teams fell to the Lady Bulldogs in straight sets.
The evening began with the junior varsity teams taking the court. The first set was highly competitive, with the lead changing from one team to the other and neither team establishing clear dominance. The first set ended with the teams going to extra points and the Lady Bulldogs emerging on top, 26-24. The second set was another close set, but in the end, it was the Lady Bulldogs who emerged triumphant, 25-19, to take the match, 2-0.
In the varsity match, the Lady Bulldogs took control early and the Cowgirls found themselves attempting to catch up for much of the contest. The Lady Bulldogs took the first two sets with 25-13 scores in each set. The final set of the match was much more competitive, with the Cowgirls taking the lead on two occasions. The third set ended with the Lady Bulldogs taking the set with a 25-18 score, with the match going to the Lady Bulldogs, 3-0.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on their home court on Monday, Sept. 25, when they face the junior varsity and varsity teams from Wakulla Christian School. The junior varsity match begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity match at approximately 6 p.m., in the MCHS gymnasium.
