On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowgirls went on the road to meet the Lady Warriors from Aucilla Christian Academy. The Cowgirls had to overcome a deficit in the final period to come from behind and win the contest 56-46. The contest started out as a closely fought match, with the Lady Warriors holding a slight two point edge going into halftime with a 30-28 score. In the third quarter, the Lady Warriors opened up a five point lead over the Cowgirls. In the final period, the Cowgirls managed to apply the defensive pressure and hold the Lady Warriors to only four points, while scoring 19 points.
Senior Josie Long led the Cowgirls in scoring with 21 points. Defensively, Long had six steals on the night. Brittany Kinsey added 14 points to the Cowgirls' victory.
The final game on the regular schedule for the Cowgirls will be a home contest against Suwannee County High School on Saturday, Jan. 28. This will be Senior Night for the Cowgirls. Tip – off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
