On Thursday, April 7, prior to the Cowgirls’ game against the Florida High Seminoles; a ceremony was held for the four senior cowgirls who will soon be graduating.
The four cowgirls, Kelli Garner, Carlie Ginn, Megan Washington and Kay Scurry had all written speeches preceding the ceremony and their words were read aloud, invoking quite a few emotions in the process.
The senior Cowgirls thanked their coaches, friends, teammates and families, mentioning how much the support, teaching and love had meant to them throughout their high school years, especially their senior year.
The Cowgirls were escorted to the front with their parents at their sides; Megan Washington had her mother, Lisa Huggins at her side; Kay Scurry was honored alongside of her mother, Teresa McNair and her aunt, Shara McNair; Carlie Ginn was flanked by her parents, Paula and Tim Ginn while her speech was read aloud and Kelli Garner was flanked by her mother, Ronda Garner and her father, Tommy Garner.
Following, their speeches, the Cowgirls were embraced by their coaches and given softball-themed bouquets.
After the ceremony, the Cowgirls rallied together for the game against the Florida High Seminoles and won the game with a score of 9-6.
