At the regular scheduled meeting of the Town Council for the Town of Lee, the council heard discussion and considered a request from Deep South Steam Engines to hold an event. In past years Deep South Steam Engines has participated in the “Lee Days” event, but this year the Lee Days event was not going to take place due to lack of help in organizing the event. Deep South Steam Engines still expressed interest in coming to Lee on Friday, Mar. 17, and Saturday, Mar. 18. There would be no cost to the town, other than mowing a field in which to set up. Suggestions were made that perhaps the Lee Fire Department could sell food and drinks. Churches and Lee Elementary School could also be approached to participate. A motion was made to allow Deep South Steam Engines to hold the event in the field behind Lee City Hall and to waive event fees. The motion was approved unanimously.

The kitchen has a gas oven at present, but if an electric oven is installed, the rent may need to be raised in order to cover the cost of electricity. The council voted unanimously to rent the kitchen to the Sales at a rate of $250 per month for the first six months, $300 per month for the next six months and $350 per month after that.
