The famed Christian jazz trumpet player and vocalist Denver Bierman will be in concert at the First Baptist Church in Madison on Tuesday, Mar. 7, at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
Bierman has gained recognition with his band, Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, performing in such venues as the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and the Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. The band gained thousands of fans nationwide when they made the finals for the FOX-TV American Idol spin-off show, The Next Great American Band. Influenced by such artists as Chicago; Earth, Wind, and Fire; and Stevie Wonder; the band has made fans of all ages and backgrounds. “We've never really been a mainstream, pop radio band. We've just tried to be a band that everybody could enjoy – a band for the American family. What could be better than being a band for the American family?” says Bierman.
Joining Bierman will be members of the Gateway City Big Band of Lake City. The Gateway City Big Band is comprised of professional area musicians as well as musicians from Florida Gateway College (formerly Lake City Community College).
The First Baptist Church is located at 134 SW Meeting Ave., in Madison. Anyone wishing more information is encouraged to call (850) 973-2547.
